A recent Washington Post experiment asked AI to generate images of a “beautiful woman.” The results? A narrow, homogenous standard: overwhelmingly young, slender, and light-skinned. Just 2% of images showed visible signs of aging. Only 9% featured dark skin tones.

This isn’t just about beauty. It’s about bias—hidden in the algorithms shaping everything from hiring decisions to healthcare diagnostics. When AI learns from data that reflects historical inequities, it automates exclusion. And let’s be clear: AI doesn’t question itself. We must be its counterbalance.
